Spun polyester is indeed incredibly soft. If you usually find regular filament polyester too slippery, cold, or feeling like plastic, then spun polyester will be a pleasant surprise.

Mimicking the texture of cotton: This fabric is made by deliberately breaking the fibers into short segments, mimicking the appearance of cotton, and then twisting them into yarn. This process eliminates the stiff sheen of regular polyester, resulting in a fluffy, substantial feel similar to cotton fabric.
A subtle, downy feel: Because it's made from short fibers, the surface of spun polyester has countless tiny, invisible fibers. When you touch it, your fingertips feel these soft fibers, not the cold surface of chemical fibers, making it very skin-friendly.
No "crunchy" sound: Traditional polyester fabrics sometimes make a rustling sound when rubbed together and have a stiffer texture. But spun polyester is more pliable and conforming; the fabric is soft and has a good drape, feeling very comfortable against the skin when worn or used as bedding.
When worn: Clothes made from spun polyester (such as T-shirts or sweatshirts) don't feel scratchy; instead, they provide a warm, comforting feeling, making them ideal for people with sensitive skin.
As bedding: Many brushed microfiber sheets use this process. They don't feel cold; instead, they have a warm, soft feel similar to flannel, and maintain this softness even after many washes.
As napkins or tablecloths: Many high-end restaurants prefer this fabric because it has the luxurious feel and softness of cotton while being as durable and wrinkle-resistant as polyester. It feels gentle even when used directly to wipe your mouth.
